Ficus Ginseng (Ficus microcarpa)

Ficus ginseng is recommended for people wishing to get started in the art of bonsai. It has imposing branched and aerial roots, which makes it its primary characteristic, moreover "ginseng" in Chinese means root. Although it is an indoor plant, it will appreciate spending the summer outdoors, in the shade.

Lighting: Bright to medium. Tolerates low light for several months, but eventually withers.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Water plants receiving low light less frequently.
